About Us

Virtue Medical was founded in 2020 as a direct primary care practice dedicated to expanding the traditional primary care model. We believe primary care should encompass more than preventive, chronic, and urgent care—it should also promote quality of life, mental wellness, and practical lifestyle changes that support overall health and well-being.

We are continually advancing our approach to provide patients with greater access to information, education, coaching, and personalized recommendations. As we grow, we remain committed to helping our patients pursue healthier, more fulfilling lives—with quality of life at the heart of everything we do.

Kayla Clements, MSN, APRN, FNP-C

Family Nurse Practitioner

Kayla Clements, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner dedicated to helping patients achieve their healthiest lives through compassionate, evidence-based care. She believes healthcare should be collaborative, educational, and focused on the whole person—not just a diagnosis. Her clinical interests include primary care, hormone optimization, weight management, preventive medicine, urgent care, chronic disease management, and lifestyle-focused wellness.

For Kayla, medicine isn’t just a career—it’s a family legacy. She grew up running around her grandfather Dr. Brewer’s medical clinic long before HIPAA was around to object. Dr. Brewer built his family practice onto his home in the 1950s and became the neighborhood physician who treated everyone with compassion, regardless of insurance status. His belief in caring for the whole person and using natural approaches whenever appropriate continues to inspire the way Kayla practices medicine today.

Before answering her lifelong calling to medicine, Kayla earned both an MBA and a PhD. She later completed her Master of Science in Nursing, became board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner, and is currently completing her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), reflecting her commitment to lifelong learning and exceptional patient care.

Joining Virtue Medicine felt like coming home. She enjoys partnering with patients to create practical, individualized treatment plans that combine evidence-based medicine with preventive, holistic, and lifestyle-focused care.

Zac

Front Office Manager

Headshot of Zac, Front Office Manager at Virtue Medical.

Zac has been working in healthcare since 2019, with a focused background in hormone optimization and the meaningful impact it can have on quality of life.  Since joining Virtue Medical in 2024, Zac has been able to bring that experience into a broader, patient-centered approach, helping individuals not just feel better and healthier, but truly feel like themselves once again.

Zac takes a lot of pride in guiding people toward the outcomes they’re looking for, whether that’s more energy, better balance, or simply a renewed sense of confidence.

"I believe life is short, and we only get one, so feeling your best isn’t a luxury, it’s essential. Being part of that transformation is what makes this work so rewarding to me."

Outside of the clinic, Zac enjoys spending time with his wife and son.  He's also a big sports fan, especially when it comes to the Chiefs and Royals.  He's always trying to catch a game whenever he can.

Front Desk, Certified Medical Assistant

Headshot of Jessie, Front Desk and Certified Medical Assistant at Virtue Medical.

Healthcare has been Jessie’s calling for as long as she can remember, having worked in the field continuously since graduating high school. For Jessie, healthcare goes far beyond daily clinical tasks—it is centered on connecting with people and making a difficult day a little brighter for someone in need. Driven by a natural curiosity and a heart for service, she embraces the opportunity to learn something new every day to ensure her patients feel genuinely heard and cared for.

Outside of the office, Jessie is a devoted wife and mother who treasures quality time with her husband and son. Whether she is tending to her indoor plant collection or immersing herself in a new crochet project, these creative outlets keep her recharged and inspired. She loves being part of a fun-loving, supportive team and strives to bring that same uplifting energy to the clinic every day.

Tessa

Certified Medical Assistant

Headshot of Tessa, Certified Medical Assistant at Virtue Medical.

Tessa has served as a medical assistant alongside Dr. Sharky for the past three years. Her journey into this role is deeply personal—she was originally a patient at Virtue Medical after undergoing a complete hysterectomy and struggling for years to feel like herself again. Through targeted hormone treatment, she was able to regain her sense of well-being. After spending 12 years as a stay-at-home mother, she was honored when Dr. Sharky invited her to join his team. Today, she feels truly grateful for the opportunity to support others as they navigate their own path back to health and vitality.

Outside of the clinic, Tessa has been married to her high school sweetheart for 22 years and is a proud mother of two. Her home is full of energy with three dogs and two cats. In her free time, she enjoys painting, working outdoors, traveling, camping, and going on float trips—though her absolute favorite pastime is cheering on her kids at their sporting events.

Chrissy

Licensed Practical Nurse

Headshot of Chrissy, Licensed Practical Nurse at Virtue Medical.

Chrissy began her career as a cosmetologist and spent several years as a stay‑at‑home mother before pursuing her passion for healthcare as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Over the past five years, she has specialized in hormone health—a field she cares deeply about after personally experiencing menopause in her 30s. She genuinely loves helping patients feel like themselves again through hormone replacement therapies and innovative care strategies, and she finds it incredibly rewarding to play a role in restoring people’s quality of life.

Outside the clinic, Chrissy has been married for 20 years and is a proud mother to two amazing daughters—and one lively dog who keeps the household entertained. If she’s not traveling (which she does every chance she gets!), she can be found cheering at a lacrosse game, spending time out on the boat, mountain biking, gardening, or diving into her next home project.

Sara

Website and SEO Manager

Headshot of Sara, Website and SEO Manager at Virtue Medical.

Sara brings a fresh, audience-focused perspective to the Virtue Medical team and is passionate about helping bridge the gap between clinical expertise and the patient experience. She especially enjoys taking complex concepts and breaking them down into clear, accessible information for people of all ages.

After years of creating educational materials for K–12 students, she moved into web design and then into SEO and digital marketing. Following a season of significant life changes, she was invited to join the Virtue Medical team and is deeply grateful for the opportunity to support this amazing practice.

When she’s not updating the website or digging into the latest SEO best practices, you’ll usually find her at home. A self-described homebody, she works to create a cozy, safe, and fun environment for her kids. When under pressure, she will stress bake, often resulting in piles of cookies which disappear amazingly fast in her busy household. She loves gardening, curling up with a good book and a giant cup of coffee, and breaking out in random dance moves when she thinks no one is watching.

Leo

Chief Morale Officer & Chaos Coordinator

Portrait of Leo, a small white and black dog serving as Chief Morale Officer at Virtue Medical.

Leo works a flexible hybrid schedule, reporting to the clinic only for high-acuity emergencies—such as acute seriousness, systemic low morale, or sudden drops in team serotonin. If you happen to be in the clinic during his rounds, expect immediate bedside comfort, unsolicited affection, and a brief but effective interruption of whatever you thought was important.

Despite his compact size, Leo approaches his role with unwavering professionalism. He specializes in patient engagement, staff emotional regulation, and rapid‑response snack detection.

When off‑duty, Leo enjoys outdoor reconnaissance missions, strategic napping, and continuing education in advanced treat‑acquisition techniques. He remains committed to maintaining clinic culture, boosting team morale, and reminding everyone that wellness sometimes starts with a wagging tail.
